November 10, 2020. This was the first day of more active flying. Most of the pilots adventured out from the camp area to take in the sights. Scott Ritchie, the local guide and organizer, led the group on a roughly 40-mile loop cross country through some of the most picturesque scenery imaginable. As the group was returning to the landing area, we experienced our first motor out situation. One of the veteran pilots, on borrowed equipment ran out of fuel and landed several kilometers away from the LZ. As nighttime was closing in, his recovery took some time as we had to traverse some very difficult terrain in the dark. Thankfully he was not injured, and the equipment made it out unharmed.
